frequently asked questions

What should I wear and bring?

Wear light weight clothing, bring a yoga mat, and water bottle. If you do not have a yoga mat, the studio has a few extra.

Do I need my own mat?
You may bring a mat if you wish, but we have all the props that you will need, including mats, in the studio. They are available for use, free of charge.

I'm not flexible. Can I still do yoga?
Yes!  Yoga isn’t about flexibility.  It’s about preparing the body so you can work on the mind and spirit.  It does not matter how far you come into the poses, only that you are present with what you are doing.  Over time, you will find that muscles will open up and allow more movement.  It is a pleasant side-effect of doing the practice.

I have an injury. Can I still do yoga?
Please let your teacher know before class of any injuries or pregnancy you may have as this will effect what poses you can do and how they should be approached.

Should I eat before a trapeze class?

Drink plenty of water before and after you take class. It is recommended to not eat a large meal two hours prior to class.

What time should I arrive?

The studio opens 20 minutes before each class. First time students must arrive at least 15 minutes in advance in order to fill out proper paper work and have a quick orientation. No late students are admitted for the respect of others and their practice.

What should I expect for my first class?
Many students find their first couple of classes to be the most challenging. This might be because it is new and unfamiliar, but you will learn the postures quickly, and in a non judgmental environment. Most students feel amazingly detoxified, relaxed, more flexible, decreased back pain just after their first class, as well as walking away with muscles that have been worked that you didn't even know you had!  New students need to arrive 15 minutes before class starts to fill out paperwork and get set trapeze height set up.

I’ve never done yoga or trapeze yoga; can I come to any class?

Yes! All of our classes offered at this time are suitable for beginners, yet challenging enough for advanced students. Anyone of any size, shape, condition or background can do  yoga. Students of all fitness levels are welcome.

If you have high blood pressure, vertigo or glaucoma, trapeze yoga is not recommend or should be approved by a doctor.

What is the weight limit on the trapeze?
The trapeze has been tested for up to 600 lbs short term use and 400 lbs for prolonged use. The Studio suited for 450 pounds.

I feel nauseous after using the trapeze for the first time. Is that normal?

For some people, inversions can make them feel a bit dizzy at first. Your body simply has to adjust, and after a little while practicing, you should be able to use the trapeze without any nausea or dizziness. Take your time, go slowly, and remember to breathe. Drink lots of water and don’t forget to listen to your body. Most people find this sensation passes very quickly.  Keep in mind this doesn't happen to everyone!
